St. Matthew’s will have blessing of pets

St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church will present the fourth annual Blessing of the Animals at 2 p.m. Sunday on the lawn at 3888 27 1/2 Road.

Take friends with scales, skin, fur or feathers for the special blessing and browse local vendors. There will be face painting, cat and dog adoptions, a pet photo station and a donation station for used blankets or food to benefit sheltered and rescued pets.

Baptists receive free gift for attendance


Landmark Baptist Church will have Give-Away Sunday on Sunday at 2711 Unaweep Ave.

Everyone who attends the 11 a.m. service will receive a free gift. Among the gifts is a one-night stay for two at the Aspen Meadows Resort.

Life Chain to start at Messiah Lutheran


Mesa County Right to Life and Messiah Lutheran Church will sponsor the Grand Valley Life Chain at 2 p.m. Sunday, beginning at the church, 840 N. 11th St.

The national prayer event remembers the millions of unborn children and families who have been affected by abortion. Participants will proceed to the intersection of North Avenue and 12th Street where they will stand in silent prayer for one hour.

Pumpkin patch fundraiser scheduled


Crossroads United Methodist Church youth will sponsor its annual pumpkin patch fundraiser from Oct. 12–31 at 599 30 Road.

Hours are 11 a.m.–7 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

The PumpkinFest is set for 12:30–3 p.m. Oct. 21, featuring a potluck lunch, a root beer garden and bump ‘n’ jump for the kids.

The annual Halloween Town fun night will be from 5–6:30 p.m. Oct. 28. There will be games and candy at the Halloween Town event, and children are encouraged to wear their costumes. A canned food donation for the Clifton Food Band is requested.

America Needs Fatima event planned


The public is invited to attend the third annual America Needs Fatima event at noon Oct. 13 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, in the Community Room of the parish office, 230 N. Third St.

Participants will unite with others across the country to recite the Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Parking is available to the north of the church, across the street from the parish office.

Men’s rally set for Victory Life Church


A men’s rally with speaker Neil Kennedy is set for Oct. 13–14 at Victory Life Church, 2066 U.S. Highway 6&50.

Kennedy, the author of “Fivestarman,” will teach pastors and leaders from 8:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m. Oct. 13, then speak at the men’s rally at 6 p.m., and at the services at 8:30 and 10:45 a.m. Oct. 14.

Country store, craft sale slated in Eckert


The annual Country Store and Craft Sale is set for Oct. 12–13 at the Eckert Presbyterian Church, 13025 Colorado Highway 65, in Eckert.

Hours are 9 a.m.–4 p.m. Friday, with a soup lunch served from 
11 a.m.–1 p.m., and from 9 a.m.–2 p.m. Oct. 13, with a sloppy joe lunch served from 11 a.m.–1 p.m. The lunch costs $5.
