Ritter to skip fieldhouse dedication

Gov. Bill Ritter will not attend today’s dedication ceremony for the reopening of Saunders Fieldhouse, his press secretary said Thursday.

George Merritt said Ritter’s recent exit from the governor’s race has upset his entire itinerary for the week.

The one-term governor also had planned to attend two campaign events in town, but they were no longer necessary.

The dedication on campus is scheduled at 5 p.m. during a 4 to 8 p.m. family fun night at The Maverick Center, 12th Street and Orchard Avenue.
