■ Sean Rubalcaba of Grand Junction, Julia Gross of Mesa and Kaitlyn Talbott of Palisade earned a dean’s citation of academic excellence for the fall 2012 semester at the Monfort College of Business at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley.
Ag background required for scholarship
The Colorado Master Farm Homemaker Guild is offering a $500 scholarship to a Colorado woman with an agriculture background.
The Second Chance Scholarship will be given to someone who has had her college education interrupted or postponed and is hoping to attend a college, trade school or a secondary education institution. Homemakers are encouraged to apply.
Three references are required, as well as a biographical statement of work history, community involvement, future goals and a statement of why the scholarship should be awarded to her.
Applications are available from county Colorado State University Extension offices, and the deadline to return applications is May 15.

Business students compete in St. Louis
Five Colorado Mesa University business students competed April 4–7 against 63 other schools at the Association for Information Technology Professionals National Collegiate Conference in St. Louis.
Dustin DeLor placed third in PC Troubleshooting, and Paul Ducray finished in the top 10 in the PC Troubleshooting and Security Scenario category.
Members of CMU Phi Beta Lambda club also placed in the top five in 49 categories at a recent business, statistics, video production and sports issues event in Denver.
CMU business students will next compete June 22-25 in Anaheim, Calif., at Phi Beta Lambda’s National Leadership Conference.
Apply for Sweet Adelines scholarship
Students who are majoring in vocal music at Colorado Mesa University are urged to apply for the Sweet Adelines Darlene Guerrie Scholarship.
Both entering freshmen and continuing students qualify for the $1,000 scholarship. Applications are available on the university website.
