■ Andrew L. Shaffer of Grand Junction graduated in December with a master of engineering degree in mining engineering from Missouri University of Science and Technology, in Rolla, Mo.
■ Bridger Singer of Grand Junction was named to the fall 2013 semester dean’s list at Creighton University in Omaha, Neb.
■ Carina Darbe of Grand Junction received a Bachelor of Science degree in web technologies recently from Bellevue University in Bellevue, Neb.
■ Quynn Clark of Palisade was named to the fall 2013 semester dean’s list at University of Dubuque in Dubuque, Iowa.
■ Kurt Faller of Grand Junction, an exercise science major at Central College in Pella, Iowa, presented on “The Effect of Stretching Protocol on Power Production on Hang Cleans,” during Undergraduate Scholarship Celebration Days in December.
■ Adrienne Schmidt of Rifle was named to the fall 2013 semester dean’s list at Concordia University in Mequon, Wis.
■ Diana Banks and Joseph Ciborowski, both of Glenwood Springs, were named to the winter term 2013 dean’s list at Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Va.
■ Megan Hill of Collbran earned a Bachelor of Science degree in animal science from the University of Minnesota in Crookston, Minn.

A number of scholarships are available to area students.
■ Grand Valley High School (Parachute) seniors who will be attending college or vocational school this fall are encouraged to apply for the two American Legion Ward Underwood Post 114 Academic Scholarships in the amount of $1,000: the two-year Pam Brock Teacher Scholarship, $1,000 each year; and the Carl H. Bernklau Scholarship in the amount of $2,500. Application deadline is 3 p.m. April 17.

■ The County Sheriffs of Colorado Inc. will award a $500 to a deserving Garfield County student. Deadline is Feb. 28. Visit http://www.csoc.org for information.
■ Kids Voting Mesa County recently received a donation dedicated to establishing a scholarship fund to support the pursuit of secondary education by two senior Mesa County students annually. ■ Coop Country Stores in Fruita, Nucla and Palisade are offering scholarships to area high school graduates. Two different scholarships are available — the Fruita Co-op/Agriculture Future of America Leader and Academic Scholarship, in the amount of $4,200; and the Fruita Co-op Scholarship, ranging from $500 to $2,500.
