■ Grand Junction residents received degrees in May from Boston University in Boston. Bryce W. Gray received a juris doctorate in law, cum laude; and Kristin C. Wihera, a bachelor’s degree in human physiology, summa cum laude. Wihera also was named to the spring 2013 dean’s list at the university.
■ Justin Kattnig of Grand Junction graduated May 17 summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and a minor in music from Colorado State University.
■ Lindsey Amber Whitesides, a 2013 graduate of Fruita Monument High School, and Samantha Casya Moore, a 2013 graduate of Palisade High School, were each awarded four-year $50,000 Maria A. Elizondo Trust Scholarships. Whitesides will attend the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena, Calif., where she will major in physics, and Moore will attend the University of Northern Colorado at Greeley to major in mathematics-secondary education.
■ Tyler J. Palmer of Grand Junction was named to the spring 2013 dean’s list at Colorado School of Mines in Golden. Palmer is scheduled to graduate in December with a bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering and a minor in economics.
■ Montrose High School graduates Kelly O’Meara and Kelsey Smith are the 2013 recipients of the prestigious Marvin F. Gill Memorial Scholarship. O’Meara and Smith will each receive a four-year scholarship totaling $32,000. O’Meara will attend Regis University in Denver, majoring in biology and psychology, with primary interest in preparing for a career in neuroscience, and Smith hopes to be elected to a Colorado State FFA officer position for the 2013–14 school year, and in 2014–15 to begin her post-secondary education at Colorado State University to major in pre-veterinarian studies.
■ Local students graduated May 24 from the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs. Regina Clark of Grand Junction received a bachelor’s degree in biology; Max Watson of Cedaredge received a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice; Kreston Keehne of Cedaredge received a bachelor’s degree in business management; Natalie Howland of Grand Junction received a master’s degree in nursing; and Paiton Howery of Grand Junction received a bachelor’s degree in political science.
■ The Mesa County Cattlewomen awarded $500 scholarships to Fruita Monument High School graduate Brody Klinglesmith and to Sam Waters of Fruita, who is continuing her studies at Colorado State University.
■ Ann Guilinger of Ridgway and Wayne Starr of Rifle were named to the spring 2013 dean’s list at Rochester Institute of Technology, in Rochester, N.Y.
