■ Area students were named to the spring 2017 semester dean’s honor roll at Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana: Thomas Beightel and Alice Ireland, both of Grand Junction, Nicholas Cambria of Hotchkiss, and Kendall Franks and Luke Machale, both of Montrose.
■ Area students were named to the spring 2017 semester dean’s list at Fort Lewis College in Durango. They are Dakota Baldozier of Cedaredge; Adjoa Hursey of Rifle; Davis Deussen of Fruita; Nicole Harkreader of Palisade; and Jacob Crosby and Blythe Crow, both of Grand Junction.
■ Alexander J. Langley of Grand Junction graduated with honors and was initiated into the Phi Beta Kappa Society on May 14 at the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas.
■ Austin Lovelace of Grand Junction was named to the spring 2017 semester honors list at Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas.
■ Eden Laase of Grand Junction graduated May 7 from Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington. She was also named to the spring 2017 semester dean’s list at the university.
■ Cierra Cosslett of Grand Junction earned a bachelor’s degree in biology during commencement ceremonies May 6 at Chadron State College in Chadron, Nebraska.
■ Hallie Timbreza of Clifton was awarded an out-of-state fee waiver scholarship for the 2017–18 academic year at Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri.
■ Hannah Kimmel, a 2011 Grand Junction High School graduate was awarded a master’s degree in public health on May 28, focusing on epidemiology. She has accepted a temporary position as research associate at the Center for Evidence- Synthesis in Health at the Brown University School of Public Health in Providence, Rhode Island.
■ Jessica Stranger was named to the spring 2017 semester dean’s list at Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington.
■ Alejandro Aguilera Rodriguez of Hotchkiss and Jacob D. Hebbel of Montrose were named to the spring 2017 semester dean’s list at Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kansas.
■ Kaley Joan Kreidler, Bo Douglas Mello and Grace E. Nelson, all of Grand Junction, and Kellyn D. Alexander of Montrose were named to the spring 2017 semester dean’s academic honor roll at Baylor University, in Waco, Texas.
■ Daniela H. Marin of Montrose was named to the spring 2017 semester dean’s list at William Jewell College in Liberty, Missouri.
■ Isaac Fisher of Hotchkiss was named to the spring 2017 semester dean’s list at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa.
■ Kurt Katzdorn of Hotchkiss was named to the spring 2017 semester honor roll at McPherson College in McPherson, Kansas.
■ Leah Elizabeth Gates of Grand Junction graduated recently from the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs.
Future Health Professionals team to compete in Florida
The local HOSA/Future Health Professionals team is headed this week to the International Leadership Conference in Orlando, Florida.
Mary Knight from Grand Junction High School and Kassie Holmes and Jesse Rowe, both of Palisade High School, are competing in Community Awareness with a presentation on Suicide Prevention.
Kordale Bavor of Grand Junction High School will compete in Medical Law and Ethics; Alexandria Smith, Palisade High School, Job Seeking Skills; Emily Stockton, Grand River Academy, Behavioral Health; Marat Giniyatullin, Central High School, Dental Terminology; and Dakota Burner, Fruita Monument High School, Home Health Aide.
State officers Jocelyn Griffis and Raigen Manspeaker join the students in representing Colorado and the community at the competition.
CMU-Montrose to sponsor open houses June 22, July 11
Colorado Mesa University’s Montrose campus will sponsor two open houses this summer for Montrose-area residents interested in advancing their educations.
Open houses will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. June 22 and July 11 in the Community Room of the Buell Higher Education Center, 234 S. Cascade Ave. in Montrose.
Fall classes will begin Aug. 21. Prospective students and family members are invited to attend and get information about how to enroll, degree options, financial aid and other services and programs at the Montrose campus.
