■ Sean Rubalcaba, a graduate of Grand Junction High School and a freshman at the University of Northern Colorado, Greeley, is one of 10 recipients this year of a $2,500 scholarship from the Wine & Spirits Wholesalers of America Educational Foundation.

Scholarships were awarded to students across the country who are children of wine and spirits wholesalers. Rubalcaba is the son of Matt Rubalcaba, a field service manager for Beverage Distributors LLC.

    ■ Glenwood Springs resident Tyler Reece, a senior attending Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, will perform a baritone voice recital at 8:30 p.m. Thursday in the Noble Recital Hall of the Jenson-Noble Music Hall on the Luther campus.

Reece, a 2009 graduate of Coal Ridge High School, will perform works by J.S. Bach, Claude Debussy, Gabriel Faure, Gerald Finzi, Edvard Grieg, Reynaldo Hahn, W.A. Mozart and Hugo Wol

■ Fruita Monument High School student Courtlyn Carpenter of Grand Junction graduated from Cornell University’s Summer College Program, a three- to six-week program that offers high school sophomores, juniors and seniors the experience of living and learning at an Ivy League university.
