Riverside needs volunteer tutors

The Riverside Educational Center is looking for individuals to volunteer from 4:10 to 5:30 p.m. one day a week tutoring disadvantaged kindergarteners through fifth-grade students.

No experience is necessary, and training is provided.

Area students receive scholarships

 

The Pinnacol Foundation has awarded nearly $390,000 in scholarships to 109 students in Colorado for the 2016–17 school year.

Scholarships are provided to the children of Colorado workers who were killed or seriously injured in work-related accidents.

Area students who received scholarships are Bretta Maughan and Dakota Proctor, both of Delta; Andrea Kinterknecht and Amanda Kinterknecht, both of Olathe; Heather Shapiro, Austin; Joel Quintana, Palisade; Holly Hernandez, Eckert; and Cesar Reyes,  James Prescott, Benjamin Thomas and Viviane Turman, all of Grand Junction.
