After-school activities: Volunteering at Taylor Elementary with the English Language learner students, and work.
Favorite book: “In Cold Blood” by Truman Capote.
Favorite TV show: “L.A. Ink.”
Favorite band or musician: The Maine.
Parents: Patricia and Joseph Lopez.
Personal hero and why: My seventh-grade science teacher, Mr. Gregg, because he taught me that your past should never affect your future.
Preferred college: Colorado State University.
Preferred career: Pediatrician.
Greatest achievement so far: Passing Advanced Placement calculus.
What you’d like to be your next greatest achievement: I would like to graduate from Colorado State University with a degree in psychology.
Q. What has been your favorite high school class so far and why?
A. Advanced Placement calculus with Ms. Conway because not only did I learn calculus, I learned how to have a positive outlook on difficult classes.
Q. What do you do for fun when you’re not in class?
A. I like to volunteer with the ELL kids at Taylor Elementary on the weekdays, and if it’s a weekend, I like to hang out with my friends or draw.
Q. What’s the best advice a teacher, coach or parent ever gave you?
A. “If you try and don’t succeed, at least you can say you gave it your best shot and can learn from your experience.” — Ms. Conway
Q. What will you miss about your school after graduation?
A. I will miss being able to see friends that I’ve grown up with on a daily basis.
Q. What would you like to do after college?
A. I would like to start my career as a pediatrician and one day travel to Africa to help children with AIDS.
Q. If you could spend next summer anywhere in the world, where would you go?
A. Australia because I love the beach and Australian accents.
