Road closures and maintenance projects may affect traffic this week:
City of Grand Junction projects:
■ Ute Water Waterline Replacement: Crews are replacing the waterline along Cortland Avenue. Cortland Avenue is closed to through traffic between 27 1/2 Road and 28 Road. Detour routes will be well marked. Access for local residents will be provided.
■ 22 Road Realignment Project at Highway 6: Reconstruction of one-third of a mile of U.S. 6 Highway between Valley Court and the I-70 Exit 26 Interchange and one-half of a mile of 22 Road. The intersection of Highway 6 and 22 Road will move 500 feet west of its existing location and a new connecting street will be built linking Valley Court to 22 Road.
On Monday night, both directions of traffic along U.S. Highway 6, between Valley Court and Sanford Drive, will be shifted to the south side of the highway. Beginning Tuesday morning, drivers should anticipate a new traffic control setup through the work zone, allowing for construction to begin on the north side of U.S. Highway 6 and the Diverging Diamond Interchange.
The U.S. Highway 6 intersection with 22 Road remains open. The speed limit through the work zone has been reduced to 35 mph.
■ 2013 Street and Sewer Line Maintenance Project: Orchard Avenue between Seventh Street and Cannell Avenue will be closed for the next four weeks. Access for local residents will be provided.
■ 2013 Sewer Line Replacement: North bound First Street between Walnut Avenue and Patterson Road will be closed for the next three weeks. Access for local residents will be provided. Detour route will be well marked. South bound First Street between Patterson Road and Walnut Avenue will remain open.
■ Utility and Street Construction for the Mesa County Workforce Center: 29 1/2 Road will be closed to through traffic between North Avenue and Orchard Avenue starting Monday for approximately three weeks. Crews will install water, sewer, electric and gas lines plus new curb, gutter and sidewalk along with additional paving for the new Mesa County Workforce Center, 512 29 1/2 Road. Access will be provided for local residents.
■ Orchard Avenue Repairs: Asphalt repairs will be done Thursday and Friday on Orchard Avenue between 17th Street and 23rd Street. Delays can be expected.
■ Street Maintenance: The following streets will be chipped and fog sealed this week. There may be temporary street closures and or lane closures with flaggers. No on street parking. Traffic delays can be expected.

I-70 B Reconstruction Project
Grading on Main Line I-70B: eastbound lanes on I-70B, over excavate soft spots found in base, and place road base (millings form asphalt removal). through July 24.
Wednesday through Friday, crews will place signal and sign caissons.
Tuesday, July 16 through Wednesday, July 24, crews will start in irrigation repairs, install new irrigation on project and repair stormwater mitigation as needed.
