Traffic Alert, June 23, 2013
Road closures and maintenance projects may affect traffic this week:
■ Ute Water Waterline Replacement: The 28 Road waterline installation between Patterson Road and Cortland Avenue is scheduled to be completed by Friday. 28 Road will still remain closed from 7 a.m.–5 p.m. this week to through traffic from Hawthorne Avenue to Cortland Avenue. Detour routes will be well-marked.
■ 22 Road Realignment Project at Highway 6: This project is reconstructing one-third of a mile of U.S. Highway 6 between Valley Court and the Interstate 70 Exit 26 Interchange and one-half of a mile of 22 Road. The intersection of U.S. Highway 6 and 22 Road will move 500 feet west of its existing location to improve safety and efficiency. A new connecting street will be built linking Valley Court to 22 Road.
There will be lane shifts along US 6, between Valley Court and the I-70 Interchange (Exit 26). The speed limit through the work zone has been reduced to 35 mph and will be enforced. The U.S. Highway 6 intersection with 22 Road remains open. Upcoming construction phases will require a temporary closure of 22 Road, scheduled for August. Public notice with specific dates will be given prior to the closure.
■ I-70B Reconstruction Project East of 25 Road: Continuing through Tuesday, crews will grade and trim North Frontage Road. Access will be maintained at all times during the work, although detours may be placed. The right-in, right-out access from I-70B at Auto Zone will be closed. Access to the North Frontage Road from I-70B will be available through the Independent Avenue intersection or through the right-in, right-out access from I-70B at the west end of the project near Starbucks.
Crews will conduct handwork and place curb and gutter along the entire north side of the project Monday and Tuesday. This will complete the concrete work on the westbound lanes. When this work is completed, traffic can be switched to the new concrete lanes so work can begin on the eastbound lanes of I-70B.
■ 2013 Sewer Line Replacement: Lorey Drive will be closed starting Monday between First Street and Ella Street. Detour routes will be well-marked. Access for residents and business will be provided.
■ North Avenue Accessibility Improvements: This project consists of concrete repair and replacement along the North Avenue corridor between First Street and 29 Road at 15 locations. This week North Avenue will have various eastbound lane closures from 9 a.m.–3 p.m. from First Street to 12th Street.
