Welcome to an improved Daily Sentinel
We’ve been working since March to make many changes to the Sentinel. Here are a few of the changes you can expect. Make sure to pick up a copy of the Sentinel every day to see what we have in store for you.
We’ve streamlined our design and added new features to help you find your favorite content.
On page one, we’ve added today’s weather forecast so you know what to wear and what you’ll need during your commute or when getting your kids ready for school, at lunch, during your drive home and at night. You’ll also find an expanded index of everything inside today’s paper.
We’ve added new colors to make your favorite news easy to find.
MORE NEWS INSIDE
Look inside to stay in tune with what’s happening in our region, the nation, politics and the world.
Look for your favorite Sentinel columnists, the planner and the people column on a new page.
WHERE’S LOCAL NEWS?
Community news comes first at The Daily Sentinel. That’s why we’ve moved local news to pages 2A and 3A, where you’ll find local news seven days a week, complete with big photos of local people, events and scenery. The Blotter and lottery numbers will stay on page 3A every day.
We’ve trimmed the fat from our weather page and added more information useful to you.
Going to be outside today? Check the UV index to see how much sunscreen you need to wear. Going fishing or to the lake this weekend? Check water levels and flows.
HEALTH & WELLNESS
Get fit and stay healthy with our Health & Wellness news every Tuesday on page 1B. Today, read about April L. Schulte-Barclay, who received her clinical doctorate degree in acupuncture and Oriental medicine.
Don’t always have time to check in with the Haute Mamas or read Mike Saccone’s Political Notebook? Read the best of this week’s blog entries in Tuesday’s Sentinel. The Haute Mamas are on page 12A today.
Every Wednesday, you can find our outdoor and recreation news on a new page called Outside on page 1B. Sentinel outdoor and recreation reporter Dave Buchanan will help you find exciting locations to hike, hunt, fish, ski and places to generally escape outside.
Keep up with the latest Maynardisms with the Sentinel’s Wednesday columist, Dick Maynard, who is now on the people/planner page.
Every Thursday, sports will be on page 1B. You can still find all your favorite preps coverage on page 2B.
Whether you think he’s irreverent or rude, insightful or way off, Gary’s now on the people/planner page.
Every Friday, read local and national business news on page 1B.
Now twice a month on Commentary.
We’ve made a new page rounding up the best festivals, events, movies and outdoor activities you can do on Saturday and Sunday. Haggerty’s Hikes, written by Bill Haggerty, moves from Sundays to Your Weekend on Saturdays.
HOME & GARDEN
We still have the same great weekend project ideas you can do around your home. Look for Home & Garden on page 1B.
MORE YOU SAID IT
We’re running more You Said It items on Saturdays and Sundays for your amusement.
How did your school do in Friday’s game? Find out in Sports, which is on page 4B on Saturdays.
PETS AND BOOKS
Because of space limitations, the pets and books pages will no longer run in Sunday’s paper. We apologize for any inconvenience.
MORE YOU SAID IT
We’ve got almost twice the fodder for radio DJs on Monday in You Said It. Read the column on page 2B.
Play your word game on page 2C.
Sunday’s business has moved to page 1B.
