Women in Outdoors event Saturday

Calling all women. If you’ve ever wanted to get back to nature, here’s your chance.

A Women in the Outdoors event on Saturday in Delta offers instruction on archery, hunting, outdoor cooking and backwoods survival, among other skills. Pheasant hunting is also available for women ready to take aim.

“This event is also an opportunity for women of all walks of life — singles, moms, daughters, young and old — to spend a weekend outdoors, away from home, having fun and making new friends,” said Patty Foster, outdoor coordinator for the National Wild Turkey Federation. The Federation’s North Fork Longbeards chapter is hosting the event at Black Canyon Wing and Clay in Delta, 2566 Last Chance Road.

For the past 10 years, the Women in the Outdoors program has offered workshops to women to emphasize the importance of wildlife management and the role of hunters in conservation, according to a statement from the organization.

Females ages 14 and older are invited to attend the daylong event for a minimal charge after registering at http://www.womenintheoutdoors.org.
