YARD OF THE MONTH: JUNE
Richard and Jenny Schriener’s yard is amazing!
Jenny, who is originally from Korea, loves flowers and created a beautiful space in this yard over the 11 years the couple has lived at 3659 N. 15th St.
The previous owners had used red shale rock for the landscaping.
Jenny likes to rescue sad and nearly dead perennials plants, giving them new life and persuading them to thrive.
In the Schrieners’ yard are penstemon, ice plants, several different varieties of shrub roses, four-o-clocks, carpet bugle and more.
The Schrieners have even managed to cultivate two beautiful magnolia trees and created a water feature out front with water lilies.
The Schrieners love their garden and have made it inviting for all who are lucky enough to drive by and see the magic that comes from Jenny’s green thumbs.
The June Yard of the Month was presented to the Grand Junction City Council on Aug. 2.
Nomination applications (the form is printed on this page) can be sent or taken to Grand Junction Parks and Recreation Department.
