Yard of the Month program is back for another season in 2013
With all the recent rain, lawns are perking up and flowering plants are putting on a show, if they haven’t already. Take a look around your neighborhood and make a nomination for Yard of the Month.
Nominate a friend or neighbor’s yard or your own yard by completing and sending in this nomination form or a form downloaded at GJCity.org/Yard_of_the_Month.aspx. You may also make a nomination by calling 254-3849.
The nomination deadline is May 24 for June’s yard award. The winning resident will be notified by the second week of June and will receive a Yard of the Month sign to display. A photo and information about the yard will be published in The Daily Sentinel.
To qualify for Yard of the Month, the yard must be within the Grand Junction city limits. The front/side yards — what can be viewed from the street — will be judged on overall appearance, tidiness as evidenced by pruned, trimmed and shaped foliage, defined lawn, borders, flower bed and visual appeal.
Yard of the Month is presented by the Grand Junction Forestry Board, The Daily Sentinel and the city of Grand Junction.
