Grand Junction Parks and Recreation Department lifeguards and family members of Billy Crawford, dedicated a plaque and tree on May 25 to honor Billy’s three years as a lifeguard. Billy died Aug. 12. “Stories were shared about his lifesaving and first responder skills, as well as his exuberance and humor,” wrote Charlyn Crawford, who submitted this photo. Lifeguards and their families and parks department staff donated money for the plaque and a memorial scholarship fund. Donations can still be made through the parks department toward the scholarship fund, which will be used to help cover recertification costs for lifeguards.

The ROSS stores in Grand Junction and Montrose donated $3,605.77 to the Black Canyon Boys and Girls Club with units in Montrose and Olathe. The funds were raised in February. Pictured are Bud Taylor, the club executive director, shown at right and Amanda Lannon, the Montrose ROSS store manager.



“My wife and I are on a two-week work-and-play trip through Arizona and Texas and spent a day down in Saguaro National Park near Tucson,” wrote Stephen Fullerton, who took this photo of his wife, professional photographer Donna Fullerton, photographing an Arizona sunset on June 1.



Members of the Piceance Energy Action Council delivered nonperishable food items collected during game 14 of JUCO to Kids Aid on June 8. This photo was sent in by Keira Bresnahan, chairwoman of the council.
