The United Way of Mesa County fundraiser, Chilled by the River, was July 29 at the Western Colorado Botanical Gardens. Destinee Reed and the Single Creek Band played at the event. Julie Hinkson of United Way took this photo, which was sent in by Honora Thompson, also with United Way.

Courtney Idler sent in this photo of her husband and father of four, Ryan Idler, fishing with his family at Blue Mesa Reservoir on June 11. “I love you, baby. Thank you for being who you are. You shine in life like you do in this picture. Love you always, forever, plus four days,” Courtney wrote.

William Bailey and 10 outriders and their mules road the Old Spanish Trail in celebration of 20 years of Back to the Trail. With the reenactment, “it was a great day to be on the National Old Spanish Trail,” wrote Chris Miller about July 28. Chris is the executive director of the Interpretive Association of Western Colorado.

“My husband and I were driving on the Uncompahgre Plateau on Wednesday night and saw these beautiful clouds,” wrote Judy Picard of this photo submitted in August.

“This is the first monarch of the summer. It landed on my neighbor’s sunflower,” Carol Lofsvold wrote.
