Local film ‘China White’ to premiere

After viewing the environmental films planned for Saturday, movie fans can switch gears with the premiere of a feature film made by local filmmaker and businessman Todd E. Braley.

The feature film “China White” will be shown Tuesday, March 30, at the Redlands Community Center.

An opening reception will be at 7 p.m. The film will begin at 7:30 p.m.

Admission is free.

“China White” was shot exclusively in Mesa County, and Braley is in talks with a California distribution company about buying the film, meaning the local film may one day be purchased at retail stores and available for rental online.

“China White” is about two Drug Enforcement Administration agents, who kill a drug dealer’s brother. The drug dealer wants revenge for his brother’s death.

The movie was made in less than three weeks on a budget of $1,800 with the help of the Mesa County Sheriff’s Department, area businesses and the municipalities of Fruita, Palisade and Grand Junction.
