22nd Alternative Christmas Fair to be at Lincoln Park

Are you tired of wrapping up a new tie for Uncle Bob every year or getting dizzy from sniffing too many fragrances, trying to find the perfect one for Aunt Jane?

Why not make a difference in the world and your community this year by donating to nonprofit organizations in the name of a friend or family member. The 22nd annual Alternative Christmas Fair will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 18, at the Lincoln Park Barn.

There will be 20 local and 30 national and international nonprofit organizations represented at the fair with music, cookies and coffee while you shop, browse the project displays and learn about the work the organizations are doing.

Shoppers who donate to an organization will receive a holiday card that can be given to those on their gift list, to let them know of the gift made in their honor, a news release said.

Crafts made by hand by artisans in Uganda (Light Gives Heat) will be available as will Cafe Justo Fair Trade Coffee, which benefits the Sheepherder Project. Grand Valley Peace and Justice will sell Fair Trade cocoa, tea and chocolate bars.

For those unable to attend the fair, gifts can be purchased through Dec. 14.

Go to http://www.gvpeacejustice.org for a list of local, national and international organizations that will benefit from the fair, or call 243-0136 for information.
