3 finalists compete for library director, as Tallman retires
In their search for a new library director, the Mesa County Public Library District Board of Trustees has narrowed the field to three finalists, it was announced.
One of the finalists for the job, Shana Wade, is the current public services director, and has been with Mesa County Libraries since 1996.
Another of the finalists, Joseph Sanchez, has served seven years with public and academic libraries across the state, including five years as library director at Red Rocks Community College.
The third finalist, Daniel Siebersma, spent five years as the state librarian in South Dakota, and also has additional experience as a public library director.
All three hold Master of Library Science degrees, the district said in a press release.
Interviews with library trustees, tours of facilities, and meetings with staff and other community leaders will happen in mid-June, with a final decision expected after that.
The district is searching for a new leader because the current director, Eve Tallman, announced that she plans to retire in August.
Tallman has been director since 2007 and guided the district through an important time that included numerous branch improvements and increases in community library use.
The major expansion of the library’s Central Branch was also developed under Tallman’s direction, and a grand re-opening of the facility will happen June 20.
