A shower of flowers for Crystal Books
It’s always great to receive a dozen roses for a special occasion.
What about 25 fresh flowers for a 25th anniversary? 50 maybe? 100!
Single stems of white roses, pink lilies, maroon chrysanthemum, purple carnations, and lime green dahlias came pouring into Crystal Books and Gifts, 439 Main St., Thursday to celebrate the store’s 25th anniversary.
“It’s been kind of amazing,” said owner Cheryl Lucas, “Today I’m just really overwhelmed. They’re not just customers, they’re friends.”
Many of the flowers were given by other store owners on Main Street accompanied by cards thanking Lucas for being a landmark downtown.
Lucas opened the store, which fills a unique niche by selling holistic and spiritual books and gifts, with her husband, James, at 4:02 p.m. Oct. 11, 1987.
“It’s been a miracle really,” Lucas said of the business’ success.
Lucas was touched by all the flowers and positive comments she received throughout the day.
It just goes to show what one flower from everyone in the group adds up to,” Lucas said. “It’s amazing.”
