Accused murderer set for Feb. 4 extradition hearing

Englishman and former downtown Grand Junction hotel owner Marcus Bebb-Jones may face extradition to Colorado early next year on a murder charge, according to a published report.

The Kidderminster Shuttle newspaper on Wednesday reported Bebb-Jones, 46, has been scheduled for a full hearing on extradition on Feb. 4, in the city of Westminster’s court in Great Britain.

Jones, who was denied bail last month, appeared in court briefly on Wednesday.

According to the newspaper’s account, Bebb-Jones’ attorney told the judge he’s seeking assurances that Colorado authorities will not seek the death penalty if Bebb-Jones is convicted of the 1997 slaying of his wife, Sabrina, 31.

The couple, at the time, owned the Hotel Melrose on Colorado Avenue.

Bebb-Jones was arrested last month in England.
