Activist to speak on immigration in Grand Junction

A supporter of a private-sector approach to immigration will speak next week to the Western Slope Conservative Alliance.

Helen E. Krieble, president of the Krieble Foundation, will discuss immigration issues at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the Grand Junction City Hall Auditorium.

The Krieble Foundation advocates the use of private companies and electronic records to monitor and control immigration into the United States.

“The bureaucratic system has frustrated both employers and workers for years, and must be replaced by a system relying on incentives, such as the profit motive, to get the job done,” Krieble says on the foundation website,

Private companies could reduce backlogs and expedite issuance of work permits, according to the website.

The presentation will include Red Card identification cards. Red Card is health care and document-processing company.

Krieble advocates the use of technology, fingerprints and biometrics, private employment agencies and background checks.

Such measures would give assurance to employers and employees, Krieble said on the website.

The meeting is open to the public.

The Western Slope Conservative Alliance is a nonpartisan organization.
