Actor Sheen posts bond after assault complaint in Aspen

Actor Charlie Sheen posted bond and was released from jail Friday night, hours after he was arrested in Aspen on felony domestic violence charges, authorities said.

Aspen police responded to a home at 320 W. Hallam St. after receiving a 911 call at 8:34 a.m. An ambulance also was dispatched to the house, but the unnamed “victim did not require transport to the hospital,” police said in a news release.

Sheen, 44, was arrested on suspicion of felony second-degree assault, felony menacing and misdemeanor criminal mischief. He was booked into the Pitkin County Jail under his real name, Carlos Irwin Estevez. His hometown was listed as Encino, Calif.

Police spokeswoman Stephanie Dasaro said Sheen posted $8,500 bond and was released from the Pitkin County Jail about 7 p.m. after being advised by Pitkin County District Judge James Boyd.

Sheen will return to court Feb. 8.

Police did not release any other details about the domestic-violence allegation. Dasaro said an arrest affidavit was not available Friday.

The home at 320 W. Hallam St. is owned by Argent Wood LLC of Carbondale, according to the Pitkin County assessor’s Web site. It’s listed for sale for $7.45 million, real estate records show.

Sheen married real estate investor and actress Brooke Mueller last year, and she gave birth to twin boys in March.

Sheen is the star of the CBS television show “Two and a Half Men.” His film credits include “Major League,” “Platoon” and “Wall Street.”

He is the son of actor Martin Sheen and the brother of actor Emilio Estevez.
