Agencies shorten application forms for public benefits

Two Colorado departments have streamlined their application processes to help residents qualify for more benefits.

The Colorado departments of Human Services and Health Care Policy and Financing have reduced from 26 pages to eight the applications to qualify for such public benefits as food stamps and Medicaid.

The two departments spent the past 10 months working with counties, federal public-assistance professionals, community advocates and program clients to redesign the application.

The new application is available at http://www.colorado.gov/hcpf or http://www.colorado.gov/dhs.
