Airline offers $59 flights to Los Angeles
A family trip to Disneyland or a wild weekend in Hollywood became more convenient and affordable for Grand Junction residents with Allegiant Air’s announcement Wednesday that it is expanding its nonstop service to include Los Angeles’ LAX airport.
Starting May 1, Allegiant Air will fly twice a week, Fridays and Mondays, between Grand Junction and Los Angeles International Airport. The airline announced it will offer $59 one-way introductory fares on the route.
“We look forward to the community taking advantage of this service,” said Debbie Kovalik, executive director of the Grand Junction Visitor and Convention Bureau. “When you add LAX, you absolutely triple your accessibility to the rest of the world.”
Grand Junction Regional Airport also offers nonstop flights to Denver, Salt Lake City, Las Vegas, Phoenix and Dallas. Allegiant Air provides the Las Vegas flights, which began in 2006, four days a week.
All of Allegiant’s flights to Los Angeles will depart Grand Junction at 9:35 p.m. and arrive in Los Angeles at 10:40 p.m. PST. Flights leaving Los Angeles will depart at 1:25 p.m. PST and arrive in Grand Junction at 4:25 p.m.
Allegiant’s $59 one-way fare must be purchased by March 11 and is valid for travel through Sept. 30. Introductory fares are not available on all flights. A round-trip flight at the introductory fare costs $152 after taxes and fees. After the introductory-fare period, regular one-way fares on the route start at $79.
