Airport offers new food stop near the security entrance
Passengers catching flights out of Grand Junction Regional Airport can now get a drink and snack with friends and family before entering the secured area of the airport.
Tailwind Concessions has opened a lounge serving snacks, coffee and smoothies on the second floor adjacent to the entrance into the Transportation Security Administration security area of the airport.
The lounge area has several tables and chairs and is open. Previously the area was surrounded by a glass wall and was used for, among other things, meetings of the Grand Junction Regional Airport Authority.
Tailwinds took over concessions last year and it also provides food and runs the Bookcliff Bar within the secure area for ticketed passengers.
Airport and Tailwind officials had discussed the possibility of providing hot food in the unsecured area of the airport, but there are no immediate plans to do that, airport spokeswoman Jodi Doney said.
