Alligator sighting reported at Riverbend Park
A woman who was walking her dogs at Riverbend Park in Palisade today reported seeing a five-foot alligator, according to the Palisade Police Department.
Palisade Police officers responded to the scene but did not see an alligator. Palisade Police Officer Stephen Tonello said the department will keep an eye on the situation.
If an alligator is found, Tonello said officers would initially make sure everyone in the area is safe, then contact the Division of Wildlife.
The call came in around noon Tuesday. The woman lives in Grand Junction but is originally from alligator-rich Florida, according to police.
