‘American Idol’ plans another audition in GJ

Get your reality TV singing pipes ready, Grand Junction. Hit show “American Idol” is holding an audition here this summer.

The specific time, date and location of the local audition was not released Wednesday, but those interested in auditioning for the show can check americanidol.com daily for updated information on the “‘American Idol’ Small Town Audition Bus Tour” that is making 10 stops in smaller communities, including Grand Junction, starting in August.

The bus tour is part of an expanded audition process, the show announced on its website.

In addition to the bus tour, the show’s expanded audition process includes an online component, where people can submit audition tapes online from Aug. 1 until Aug. 14 through the website.

It also includes the “Nominate An Idol” program, where family and friends can nominate a person they think should be on the show’s 12th season, which begins in January on Fox.

The application for this nomination route also is available online.

Anyone planning to audition in Grand Junction should visit the website to read through the rules, regulations and “frequently asked questions” before showing up to sing because the process is stricter than some might think, particularly if the person auditioning is young than 18.
