Apparent final appeal of Crested Butte expansion plan is rejected
Federal officials with the U.S Forest Service have upheld a decision to stop a proposed expansion of the Crested Butte Ski Area, it was announced today by local foresters with the Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison National Forests.
Deputy Regional Forester Jim Pena in May rejected the ski resort’s appeal of a decision by Gunnison National Forest Supervisor Charlie Richmond in November to block the proposal. Richmond said the proposed expansion was not in the public interest.
