Arizona charge against escaped inmate dismissed
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — A Mohave County judge has dismissed an escape charge against one of three men who fled from a state prison near Kingman last year.
Chief Deputy County Attorney Jace Zack agreed to drop the charge if Daniel Renwick received a sentence of at least 58 years stemming from an Aug. 1 shootout with police in western Colorado following the prison break.
Renwick pleaded guilty in March to two counts of first-degree attempted murder. He was sentenced to 60 years.
Zack said Wednesday that he will not refile the Arizona escape charge, even though it was dismissed without prejudice.
Renwick and the other men escaped from the prison with the help of a woman on the outside. He was the first of the four to be captured.
