Art on the Corner People’s Choice Award won by Flutterby

The Art on the Corner Committee just tabulated the votes received for the sculpture exhibits annual People’s Choice Award and the winner is Flutterby the giant colorful butterfly at 7th and Main Street by Fruita artist Terry Burnett.

“Flutterby,” the giant and colorful butterfly sculpture at Seventh and Main streets, won the Art on the Corner People’s Choice Award organized by the Downtown Development Authority.

There are 30 rotating pieces in Art on the Corner. The public submitted votes through phone calls, emails and by mail.

The steel and fiberglass sculpture is by Fruita artist Terry Burnett, the same sculptor who won last year’s People’s Choice Award for “Wooshie,” a large fish sculpture, that was installed at Lincoln Park-Moyer Swimming Pool.

The city of Grand Junction would like to purchase “Flutterby” for its permanent collection, but it needs donations. Visit http://www.downtowngj.org for information.
