The artists at Oakley Gallery are friendly, talented and personable.

Almost daily, one of the over 40 artists who display their work at the gallery begins to paint, draw or design just inside the door at 602 Main St.

“We have people who do glass work, jewelry, painting, just about everything,” said Peg Oswald as she worked on a chalk drawing Friday afternoon.

The artists encourage the public to come in, introduce themselves, browse the hundreds of pieces of local art.

Oswald said putting an artist on display often brings foot traffic into the store. “It’s a great way to display our work,” she said.
