Authorities search for suspects in shooting

Citadel Security officers and crime scene tape guard the area Sunday where a man was shot outside of 2940 N. View Drive on Saturday night.

Investigators were seeking possible suspects Sunday afternoon in a Fruitvale shooting that occurred late Saturday night, according to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office.

At about 10:30 p.m., police responded to a shooting in the front of a home at 2940 N. View Drive.

A male in his early to mid-30s was taken to a hospital with a gunshot wound, the victim suffering “a pretty serious injury,” according to spokeswoman Amanda Erkman of the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office.

Erkman said early Sunday night the victim is believed to be alive and deputies are conducting an investigation into the assault.

No one was arrested in connection with incident.

Erkman said deputies responded to the home, but a number of people fled before police arrived. Deputies had been watching the area for possible drug activity, but it’s unclear if that is related to the shooting, she said.
