Skarda trying to overcome injuries, qualify for nationals

Alexis Skarda is trying to get back into running shape after injuries sidelined her for much of the past two seasons. The Colorado Mesa senior will compete in the 5,000-meter run this weekend at the RMAC Outdoor Championships in Golden. Skarda’s top time of 2013, 17 minutes, 41.82 seconds is well short of her personal record in the event. Skarda needs to shave 30 seconds off her time to reach the provisional qualifying time for nationals.
