BBQ and blues begin at Gateway Canyons

Go ahead and wallow in some end-of-the-summer blues with the Barbecue Blues Festival at Gateway Canyons Resort.

The third annual festival, set for Saturday, Sept. 3, is a New Orleans-style summer send off featuring barbecue, arts and craft vendors and a music lineup featuring five blues artists.

Gates open at noon and the music begins at 2 p.m. with Little Joe McLerran and Robbie Mack. The Dream Boats perform at 3:30 p.m.; The Brian Hornbuckle Band, 5 p.m.; Steve Crenshaw, 6:30 p.m.; and the Hazel Miller Band, 8:30 p.m.

Fireworks will decorate the sky at 9:30 p.m. followed by an encore from the Hazel Miller Band.

Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the gate. Purchase advance tickets at Mesa County City Market stores and Gateway Canyons’ main office, 2454 Patterson Road, No. 200, in Grand Junction.
