Beaver Fire continues to rage near Montrose/San Miguel border
Residents in the San Miguel Canyon corridor near Norwood are asked to stay alert today as firefighters battle a 3,000-acre fire in the area today.
The Beaver Fire began Saturday on private as well as public land near Highway 145 and Goodenough Road close to the border of San Miguel and Montrose counties. The cause of the fire is not yet known, according to a press release from the Bureau of Land Management.
No homes have been evacuated as of Sunday morning and no structures have burned. The San Miguel River is closed between Deep Creek and Norwood Bridge, and camp sites there have been evacuated.
