Bicyclist struck, killed on B 1/2 Road

A 61-year-old woman riding a bicycle was struck and killed by a vehicle Tuesday afternoon at B 1/2 Road, near 30 1/2 Road, according to the Colorado State Patrol.

The collision occurred around 3:44 p.m.

Susan Baker, of Grand Junction, was heading west on her bike on the right shoulder of B 1/2 Road. A 1992 Geo Prism, driven by 42-year-old James Pierce of Grand Junction was also heading west on B 1/2 Road, troopers said.

Baker turned into the path of the oncoming Geo, troopers said.

Baker, who was wearing a helmet, was thrown from her bike when the Geo hit her. She was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, troopers said.
