Grand Junction has a second barre studio, with the opening of Barreology at 627 Grand Ave. in the cottage behind Salon Capelli, this week.
Owner Brittany Bowen said she wanted to open her own studio after she started teaching barre about a year and a half ago.
Bowen calls barre a combination of pilates and yoga, stemming from ballet. Movements that isolate muscle groups and work them to exhaustion, combined with stretches that lengthen and tone are the goal.
“It’s a full body workout,” she said. “And it’s little to no impact, but you get killer burn.”
Class sizes are limited to nine clients, and Bowen recommends signing up to reserve a spot ahead of time at the studio’s website, barreology.co.
Hour-long classes cost $15 and 30-minute classes cost $8. The studio will have a grand opening on April 1. For more information, call 201-5585.
■ Regular cleaning and detailing can extend the life of your vehicle, said Devin Romero, owner of Devin’s Details, who promises it is an investment worth making.
Having previously worked in the energy industry, Romero started his new company last year after earning auto detailing, reconditioning and paint coating specialist certificates from the Smart Detailing University in Gardena, California.
“Detailing was something I just really enjoyed,” Romero said.
He decided to turn his passion into a business and felt as though being certified and professionally trained would help him provide quality, high-standard results for his customers.
Primarily mobile, Romero provides full deep cleaning and reconditioning of the interior, exterior and engine bay with every service. Standard service includes carpet shampoo, leather cleaning and protection, plus exterior wax and paint protection.
“I don’t do add-ons. Everything is included in a standard detail,” he said. Average cost is $150 but depends on vehicle size, he said.
Romero uses steam to clean the interior vents and other hard surfaces.
“It kills the germs and bacteria that hide inside of vents and build up over time,” he said, adding that it was a healthier way to clean without using harsh chemicals.
He uses a waterless solution to clean the exterior of the vehicle, if necessary, to prevent mess inside a customer’s driveway or garage.
Romero can also provide paint correction on most vehicles, he said. Correction removes scratches and swirls, making paint look new again without the use of fillers. Spot correction and full paint repair is available by quote only.
And, just to make sure the vehicle looks new again, Romero can provide headlight restoration, which he guarantees for up to one year. Cost is $60.
