Blaze a new trail by volunteering

Take a little, give a little.

These are words volunteers live by and this week the Outside Connection features more of that stuff you learned in school.

You know, sharing.

Volunteers for Outdoors Colorado are seeking volunteers to help build 1.5 miles of new trails Oct. 9–10 at Vega State Park.

Gee, it could snow at Vega by then, and the scenery would be quite marvelous.

No entry fee on those days for volunteers. Supplies, tools and food, that’s right, food, are provided.

Consider it a working vacation, which is another v-word.

WHAT: Joining Volunteers for Outdoors Colorado in a weekend of building trails.

WHERE: Vega State Park, about 13 miles east of Collbran.

WHEN: Starting around 7:30 a.m. on Oct. 9–10.

HOW: For information and to preregister for one or both days, go to the Project Calendar at http://www.voc.org or call 303-715-1010, ext 112. Minimum age is 12.
