School vandalized

• Independence Academy, 400 N. 14th St., was vandalized between March 19 and 20, and Crime Stoppers and the Grand Junction Police Department is asking for help from the public. More than $1,000 in damages occurred when the school was broken into and syrup and other food items were spread on the floors, windows, ceilings and doors.

According to the Grand Junction Police Department:

•  Two 17-year-olds were arrested on suspicion of shoplifting Sunday at 2424 U.S. Highway 6&50.

•  David Laba, 18, was issued a summons Sunday on suspicion of removing property valued at less than $500 from a business in the 2500 block of Rimrock Avenue.

According to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Department:

•  More than $2,700 worth of gun accessories were taken from a garage Monday in the 1200 block of M Road in Loma.
