Controlled burns possible
Fire authorities may consider conducting prescribed burns in the next few days in the Grand, Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison National Forests.
Authorities may also continue with a burn in the Indian Creek area, about 12 miles southwest of Gateway. Officials already have burned about 250 acres of total proposed 1,026-acre burn in that area. Additionally, officials with the GMUG are considering conducting a prescribed burn on Friday and Saturday on about 200 acres about 30 miles south of Gunnison in the Cochetopa Park area.

According to the Grand Junction Police Department:
■ Someone stole items valued at more than $5,000 from a home in the 500 block of 24 1/2 Road on Jan. 24.
■ Items valued at more than $2,000 were stolen from a building in the 600 block of S. Ninth Street on Friday.
■ A woman stole a vehicle valued at more than $2,000 from the 2500 block of U.S. Highway 6&50 on March 14.
■ Steven Marsh, 24, received a summons on suspicion of theft after being contacted by officers in the 2600 block of N. Seventh Street on Monday.
