Drug arrest at bus station
Shawn Paris Hurd, 43, was arrested Wednesday afternoon at the Greyhound Bus Station at 230 S. Fifth St. on suspicion of drug possession and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office.
Western Colorado Drug Task Force officers were performing a routine check Wednesday for illegal substances at the bus station when a K-9 officer alerted officers drugs may have been in a duffel bag on a bus from Los Angeles to Chicago. The owner of the bag, Hurd, said there was marijuana in the bag and that he was getting paid to deliver the marijuana to a person in Denver, according to an arrest affidavit.
Officers found a small amount of suspected marijuana on Hurd and, after obtaining a search warrant, found approximately 2.2 pounds of suspected marijuana and one gram of suspected cocaine in the duffel bag, according to the affidavit. Hurd was booked into the Mesa County Jail.
