Attack on woman alleged

A 29-year-old Fruita man was in court Tuesday, accused of felony assault for allegedly attacking a woman with whom he was in a relationship in the parking lot of Mind Springs Health on Monday night.

Michael Clough was advised on a possible second-degree assault with intent to cause bodily injury by strangulation, after staff at Mind Springs told police they saw Clough on top of the woman during a struggle outside the facility, at 515 28¾ Road. The alleged victim told police Clough “caused her to lose consciousness” and “threatened to shoot her or himself,” according to an arrest affidavit.

He was issued a $1,000 cash-only bond, or a co-signed Fast Track substance abuse treatment bond in the alternative, on Tuesday.
