Search, rescue fundraiser
The seventh annual Mary’s Loop Kokopelli Classic Trail Runs to benefit Mesa County Search & Rescue will take place at 7 a.m. Aug. 24.
The Kokopelli Classic offers an eight-mile trail run and a 16-mile trail run, with both taking place on the Kokopelli Trail in Loma off Interstate 70 at Exit 15. Courses will use all or parts of Mary’s Loop, Mack Ridge, Lions Loop and Steve’s Loop. Awards and prizes will be offered.
Registration is $30 for the eight-mile race and $50 for the 16-mile race. Prices for both increase by $5 for people who register on the day of the race. Visit http://www.active.com to register for the runs or call 270-6147 for more information.
According to the Grand Junction Police Department:
■ A male juvenile is suspected of sexually assaulting a female juvenile in the city in July 2012.
■ A 17-year-old boy was issued a summons on suspicion of being a minor in possession of marijuana Thursday at 1842 N. Seventh St.
■ A man is suspected of forcing his way into a residence Wednesday in the 1200 block of Ute Avenue and assaulting someone. The victim refused to pursue prosecution.
