Man accused of fleeing cops
A 33-year-old parolee who was arrested Tuesday evening after allegedly evading law enforcement throughout the day is facing multiple felony charges, including drug possession with intent to distribute, vehicular eluding and trespass of a vehicle, court records said.
George Lennon Gonzalez was arrested near Kennedy Avenue and north 22nd Street early Tuesday evening, not far from a 2004 Mercury Mountaineer he had been spotted in earlier that day, an affidavit for his arrest said. Mesa County sheriff’s deputies — who had been looking for Gonzalez to help the Colorado Department of Corrections Fugitive Apprehension Unit — searched the Mountaineer and found “a large amount of ammunition,” as well as nearly 4 ounces of methamphetamine and a flashlight with a built-in stun gun.
Gonzalez was ordered held in custody on a $25,000 cash-only bond by Mesa County Judge Craig Henderson on Thursday.
