Maid accused of burglary

A 21-year-old cleaning crew member was arrested Thursday after allegedly being caught on surveillance video trying to unlock a cash box at the business she was cleaning, according to a police report.

Marissa Ann Kastrup is facing burglary and theft charges after being taken into custody at Western Valley Family Practice, 2237 Redlands Parkway, late Thursday night.

A staff member at the practice called police at 10:08 p.m. to report that he was watching via surveillance video as one cleaning crew member “was attempting to unlock a locked cash box where the business keeps money.” When police arrived, the man explained that cash had been stolen from the business sometime between July 14 and 15, between July 21 and 22, and on July 25.

When questioned, Kastrup, who matched the description of the suspect on the surveillance video, admitted she had stolen money previously from a cash box to buy gas for her car and diapers.
