Man accused of menacing his wife arrested, jailed
A 53-year-old Grand Junction man accused last December of threatening to his wife that he would shoot himself and adding, “Why don’t we make it a double?” could be charged with felony menacing and other crimes, court records said.
William Martin Monahan, who had a warrant issued for his arrest in January, was arrested early Monday morning in connection with the allegations. The woman told law enforcement that Monahan made the threats after she asked for a divorce, and said she “was scared for her life,” an arrest affidavit said.
Monahan appeared in court Tuesday afternoon before Mesa County Judge Craig Henderson, who ordered he stay in custody in lieu of a $5,000 cash-only bond.
