An 18-year-old Grand Junction man was arrested Saturday after allegedly eluding police with his vehicle and fleeing on foot, throwing away items as he went.
Deputies said they attempted to stop a speeding vehicle but caught up with the driver, Shawn Shay Reiner, after he got out of the driver’s side door and ran into a barbed wire fence north of Monument Village. When deputies asked why he was running, Reiner said because, “I’m stupid,” the affidavit said. Reiner appeared to be drinking alcohol and there was bottle of tequila and a bag with limes nearby. There were two other juveniles in the vehicle.
