Man’s body identified
A man whose body was found near Orchard Avenue Elementary School on Tuesday died of a “pre-existing health problem,” and has been identified as Thomas Shepard, 35, of Grand Junction, according to the Mesa County Coroner’s Office.
A passer-by reported finding Shepard’s body in the early morning near the intersection of Orchard Avenue and 19th Street.
Police said that, other than the fact that the body was apparently found in public and on a road, initial investigations didn’t show anything immediately suspicious Shepard’s death.
Mesa County Chief Deputy Coroner Victor Yahn wrote that Shepard’s death was due to natural causes.
